What You'll Do:

The Early Head Start Teacher works under the supervision of the Center Director. The Early Head Start Teacher will be responsible for the organization of classroom space and equipment to meet the individual needs of children enrolled including the provision of activities in all areas reflecting Early Childhood Development practices, which will encourage children to: initiate activities, solve problems, explore, experiment, question and learn by doing.

  • Ensure classroom, playground, and transition activities are developmentally appropriate and aligned with Head Start philosophy and licensing regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and submit weekly lesson plans that support individual, small group, and large group learning, including IFSP goals when applicable.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that builds relationships, independence, and a sense of community.
  • Prepare classroom materials and implement daily curriculum using the Frog Street Curriculum.
  • Monitor and document children's progress using Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG), DRDP, screenings, assessments, and observations in accordance with program timelines.
  • Maintain accurate child records and complete required documentation, including daily experience sheets, parent conference reports, and transition plans.
  • Individualize instruction by using assessment data and accommodating children with special needs.
  • Promote cultural responsiveness by incorporating diverse learning materials and supporting children's home languages.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, State Licensing Regulations, CACFP requirements, and agency policies.
  • Monitor classroom and playground health and safety, complete daily health inspections, accident reports, and maintain sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through conferences, home visits, newsletters, calendars, and ongoing communication.
  • Participate in child staffing meetings to support children's developmental goals and family needs.
  • Maintain accurate records using ChildPlus and other required systems for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Achieve and maintain CLASS assessment scores at or above program expectations.
  • Mentor substitutes and volunteers while supporting family-style dining practices.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities, including email communication, timekeeping, mileage, paperwork, and in-kind documentation accurately and on time.
  • Attend required trainings and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professional ethics, and compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance, punctuality, and maintain required physical and annual TB screening.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with three years of early childhood education experience.
  • Ability to continuously work toward earning an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Knowledge of infant and toddler growth, development, and early childhood education best practices.
  • Proven proficiency in verbal and written communication skills when interacting with children, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, including performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Proficiency in using standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and internet applications.
  • Understanding of the unique needs of families and the ability to communicate effectively and provide appropriate support.
  • Ability to fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities for suspected child abuse or neglect.
  • Flexibility to perform additional duties and work in other positions as needed.
